7 TIPS FOR AN AFFORDABLE WEDDING

7 TIPS FOR AN AFFORDABLE WEDDING

Planning a wedding is always a stressful process, especially if you’re trying to keep it affordable yet beautiful. As a wedding planner I always trying to help my clients to keep their budget and have an amazing result based on their style and priorities. Here are my 7 tips for an affordable wedding.

BOOK A WEEKDAY WEDDING DATE

I always advise my couples to be flexible when choosing a wedding date. If you choose to get married on a weekday, you are likely to save money from your budget. Most venues have discounts and better initial offer if you choose a weekday. Your planner can arrange a better price on other vendors’ offers if you choose a weekday, as weekends are the most popular for everyone.

      MINIMIZE YOUR GUEST LIST

A smaller guest list means a lower cost wedding in many services. Best price on food, drinks, service, furniture rentals and invitations as it is a per person offer. This way you save money on decoration and other services that are a priority and very important to you.

CHOOSE SEASON FLOWERS FOR YOUR DECORATION

Choosing flowers out of season is much more expensive than choosing flowers that are in season. Roses and peonies are quite popular for wedding decorations. If the flowers you want are out of season at the time of your wedding, consider styling the wedding with some varieties that your florist will recommend. You can maintain the style and colors you want with the right direction of the professionals.

BOOK A VENUE THAT INCLUDES EQUIPMENT

Some venues include at least some of the equipment you’ll need, keeping the overall cost down. If you can book a wedding venue that does this be sure to evaluate that the equipment is also suitable for the style and needs of your wedding. In this case you limit the number of suppliers you will need as well as their transport costs. Your wedding planner will give you all info needed to consider before confirm the final choice of yours.

COMBINE WEDDING CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATIONS

If you want an affordable wedding day, prefer to combine the wedding ceremony and the dinner and hold them in the same venue. This means that you have to choose wisely from the beginning of the wedding planning process based on the number of your guests and the type of ceremony you want. Lots of venues includes traditional chapels in order to combine a traditional orthodox wedding with a stylish reception dinner.

      OFF-SEASON WEDDING DATE

I get it when my couples choose to get married in the summer, but those are the most common dates and it makes sense that prices are higher for all wedding professionals. If you want a more affordable wedding, choose off-season dates to get a better deal and more availability. If you combine it with a weekday choice, you have achieved the best combination. Spring or late summer you can achieve this more easily, especially for a wedding in the Greek islands.

      WELL ORGANIZED LOCATION

Last but not least, I suggest you choose a well organized location to get married. By this I mean a location where multiple vendors are based so that you and your wedding planner have the opportunity to work with a team without any transportation costs beyond the initial quote. Small isolated Greek islands are really beautiful for your intimate wedding, but you need more budget to afford a well-planned wedding for your family and friends. Hidden costs will increase your budget and make you decide to forego the services you definitely want for your special day.
